ABOUT THE CHARACTER

WARNING: SPOILERS FOR HUSTLE CAT AHEAD

Initial Meeting | First Fight
Mason's Route | Landry's Route | Hayes' Route | Finley's Route | Reese's Route | Graves' Route

Nacht is a character from the video game Hustle Cat and serves as the main antagonist, showing up in the later half of each route. Nacht was once Graves' lover and was deeply involved with him, though their relationship was always a little rocky and tended to be on/off. Graves eventually broke it off between them because the relationship was unhealthy (if not abusive, though it had some traits of one) and, after seeing Nacht change into someone he simply didn't know, Graves no longer felt loved, happy, or safe. While we don't know everything about this change, we do know that a large factor in it was magic. Namely, the fact that -- rather than develop his own magic -- Nacht instead copied Graves' metal magic, becoming a metal witch. Unfortunately, the peril of copying someone else's magic is corruption, and Nacht -- mentally and magically -- corroded, his ability becoming that of Rust and earning him the title of Rust Witch.

Unfortunately, Nacht couldn't accept the break-up, and -- with his mind twisted -- took to lashing out at Graves in a desperate attempt to "take him back" somehow. Or, at the very least, to take what Graves owned, as Nacht felt he was abandoned and thus owed everything that Graves had. Despite his problems, he knew that Graves still loved him (as evidenced by Graves' constant release of him in the route endings, the fact that he can never bring himself to genuinely harm Nacht, and the fact that Nacht's phone number is still in Graves' favorites), which only caused Graves' refusals to worsen. Nacht's love, corrupt and twisted as it might be, is shown the best in the ending of Graves' route: he refuses to Rust Avery, instead believing that "it's not painful enough" for them, and when turned into a cat tells Graves that all he wanted to do was see him. Though he's rebuffed by Graves' comment that Graves did not want to see him, he refuses to let go of his feelings for Graves, quietly stating that Graves will be "the only one" before he leaves. Because Graves hints that the final step to breaking the cat curse he's inflicted with is to finally let go, it's unknown if Nacht will ever be able to turn back -- or if, indeed, he'll stay away as needed for it.

Nacht's (unnatural) magical ability is that of Rusting; though a source of metal is needed to help him generate it, Nacht can turn anything into a twisted, rusted object, regardless of what it's made of, and the Rust will spread at a varying pace. For humans, this involves "encasing" them in rust, like an outer shell; it's stated to be cold, leaving someone completely numb and lacking any feeling in their body. However, it's also implied that the victim is aware the entire time they're Rusted, though how far this awareness extends is unknown. Though it may be unnatural, Nacht is a very powerful witch, to the point that his name is well known in most covens and witch society.

Nacht's natural magical ability is completely unknown.

The breed of Nacht's cat form is unknown, but is likely that of a Bengal.

Nacht is 39 years old and was born on October 23rd. His height is 6'1".

Nacht speaks with a very common sort of vocabulary, as noted by Graves; his voice and demeanor tends to come off as smug, smarmy, and intensely intimidating, depending on his current mood. He speaks with a noticeable accent, bearing a rather deep, masculine, graveled voice.
